MA Curatorial Practice presents the first panel discussion in the Local Address series,
which focuses on cultural issues and institutions from around the world. The series brings international cultural figures to New York for conversations that explore the pressing local issues that their institutions and communities face today.
The panel for Under Pressure: Institutional Practice and China will discuss the questions of national representation in the current global order, in which China is more connected and influential than ever. Panelists will consider a variety of questions, such as: How do institutions contextualize artists working in China for local and international audiences? What is the role of the Chinese government, collectors and foundations function in who is exhibited? And in what ways might exhibitions of Chinese art contribute to larger conversations in the art world?
